Subconscious Athlete®
Paul Larsen
"Based in Amsterdam, I work with tennis, golf and football players who know their physical game is strong — but something is holding them back. As a certified subconscious performance coach, I help athletes identify and reprogram the mental patterns that create pressure, self-doubt and inconsistency."
"Combining subconscious coaching with sport psychology, I work on the deeper factors that influence performance — factors that often have little to do with the sport itself and everything to do with the mind running it."
"I work with players at all levels across the Netherlands — from ambitious juniors to elite competitors — ready to master their mind as much as their body."

How the Mind Works
Most athletes train their body relentlessly. Their technique is sound. Their fitness is strong. And yet — under pressure, in the moments that matter most — something gets in the way.
That something is the subconscious mind.
Research suggests that up to 95% of our behaviour, decisions and reactions are driven by subconscious programming — patterns formed through years of experience, feedback and emotion. For athletes, this means that performance under pressure is rarely a technical problem. It's a mental one. And not the kind that positive thinking or breathing exercises can reach alone.
The subconscious operates below conscious awareness. It runs automatic responses — the tight serve on match point, the missed putt under pressure, the hesitation in front of goal. These aren't weaknesses. They're patterns. And patterns can be changed.
Here's what most people don't expect: the root cause of a mental block in sport is very often not related to sport at all. A pattern of self-doubt on the court, a freeze response under pressure, an inability to close out a match — these frequently trace back to experiences, beliefs and emotional imprints formed long before the athlete ever picked up a racket, club or ball. Sport simply becomes the stage where those patterns show up most visibly.
This is why working only on the sport rarely solves the problem. True performance change requires going to the source.
Through a combination of subconscious reprogramming, neuroscience-based techniques and sport psychology, I work with athletes to identify that source and replace limiting patterns with ones that serve them. The results aren't just felt in competition — they show up in training, in confidence and in how athletes relate to pressure itself.
This is not conventional mental coaching. It goes deeper. And that's precisely why it works.

Football is played in seconds of decision and years of mental conditioning. Whether it's the penalty spot, a crucial pass or bouncing back from a mistake, what separates players at the same technical level is almost always mental. This course targets the subconscious patterns that create hesitation, pressure collapse and performance inconsistency

No sport exposes the mind quite like golf. Between shots, the subconscious fills the silence — and not always helpfully. This course works at the level where the real game is played: below conscious thought, where habits, pressure responses and self-belief are actually formed. Quieter mind. Cleaner swing. More consistent results
